On the 24th, a paper bag was hanging on the entrance door of the first floor of the Hyochang-dong Community Service Center in Yongsan-gu. Inside were 20 handmade cotton masks, 10 medical masks, and a handwritten letter.
The anonymous donor also left a message of encouragement, saying, “I am not sure if the word ‘donation’ is appropriate, but I want to help, so I am leaving these together. Keep up the good work, everyone. Thank you.”
Additionally, the donor showed great care by detailing the materials used, stating, “The table for making masks was disinfected with alcohol, hands were thoroughly washed, and masks were made while wearing masks.”
Lee Jeong-nam, head of Hyochang-dong, said, “Our staff and residents were deeply moved by this unexpected donation,” adding, “We are truly grateful. We will also do our best to fight against COVID-19.”
The community service center plans to distribute the donated items to households eligible for emergency relief and livelihood support.
In Yongsan-gu (Mayor Seong Chang-hyun), donations from residents and businesses wishing to overcome COVID-19 continue without pause.
Healthcare product company TenMinds Co., Ltd. and online advertising agency Yeolsimhi Communications sent 1,000 hand sanitizers and 100 KF94 masks to the district on the 24th.
Jang Seung-woong, CEO of TenMinds and Yeolsimhi Communications, said, “As a local company in Yongsan-gu, we want to contribute our strength,” and added, “Please use these to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
The district plans to distribute these items to welfare facilities such as nursing homes.
On the 23rd, Yoon Young-chae from Huam-dong delivered 2,000 health drinks to the district’s screening clinic, warming the hearts of those around.
