Former President Park Geun-hye's Retrial Sentencing Likely Delayed Until After June... Witness Examination on May 20
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] The retrial sentencing for former President Park Geun-hye's abuse of power and bribery charges is expected to be delayed until after June.
The Seoul High Court Criminal Division 6 (Presiding Judges Oh Seok-jun, Lee Jeong-hwan, Jeong Su-jin) held a continuation hearing for former President Park's retrial on the 25th and discussed the future schedule. Former President Park did not appear in court.
On this day, the prosecution requested seven witnesses related to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officials and executives of affiliated organizations such as the Arts Council Korea and the Korean Film Council in connection with the cultural and artistic blacklist case involving former President Park.
The court accepted three of these as witnesses and decided to conduct witness examinations on May 20.
Since it is customary to set a separate date for the sentencing after completing the witness examination, the sentencing date for this trial is likely to be after June.
The sentencing hearing for former President Park's retrial on the state affairs manipulation and National Intelligence Service special activity funds bribery case was originally scheduled for the end of January.
