[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Countries requesting support for Korean-made diagnostic kits are increasing.
A senior official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on the 25th that a total of 47 countries have requested the supply of items such as COVID-19 diagnostic kits from Korea.
He explained, "Some countries contact Korean companies directly, but in cases where they do not, they request exports through diplomatic channels," adding, "When inquiries come in, we support by receiving samples from Korean companies and sending them to the respective countries."
So far, it has been confirmed that exports have been completed to three countries. 51,000 collection kits were exported to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and 20,000 and 50,000 diagnostic kits were delivered to Romania and Colombia, respectively.

It was also revealed that 39 countries have requested humanitarian support for items such as diagnostic kits. The senior official said, "It is difficult to provide humanitarian support to all, so priorities must be set," and added, "We will need to make decisions in consultation with related ministries such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety."
