Joining the 'Flower Farm Support Relay Campaign'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Seon-ae] Baek Bok-in, CEO of KT&G, is participating in the ‘Flower Farmers Support Relay Campaign’ to help flower farmers who are struggling due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to KT&G on the 25th, this campaign is a relay event held to support flower farmers facing difficulties as various events and gatherings such as graduation ceremonies, entrance ceremonies, and family occasions have been canceled or reduced. CEO Baek joined the campaign after being nominated by Kim Sang-taek, CEO of SGI Seoul Guarantee Insurance.
Ahead of the company’s anniversary on April 1st, CEO Baek delivered messages of gratitude and encouragement along with flowers to employees. Additionally, KT&G is organizing an event to gift flowers to employees’ families through its lifecycle family care program, ‘Gahwamansaseong.’ Furthermore, CEO Baek nominated Kim Jae-su, CEO of KGC Ginseng Corporation, as the next participant in the relay campaign.
CEO Baek stated, “I joined this campaign to support flower farmers who are struggling due to decreased flower consumption and price drops caused by the COVID-19 situation,” and added, “I hope this will gradually revitalize flower market consumption and provide a small help to save the farms.”

Prior to this flower farmers support campaign, KT&G has continued multifaceted support efforts to overcome COVID-19. It donated 500 million KRW in emergency funds to the National Disaster Relief Association and participated in the ‘Good Landlord Movement,’ reducing fixed rents for small business owners in rental buildings located in Daegu and nationwide. In addition, together with its subsidiary KGC Ginseng Corporation, KT&G delivered CheongKwanJang red ginseng products worth 1.06 billion KRW to frontline medical staff and related workers.
