Gyeonggi Health and Environment Research Institute Conducts Water Quality Tests at 318 Shared Drinking Water Facilities
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will conduct joint water quality inspections on 318 'drinking water communal facilities' within the province.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 25th that from next month 1st to June 30th, it will conduct water quality inspections on 318 'drinking water communal facilities' in the province in cooperation with city and county governments.
Drinking water communal facilities refer to mineral springs, natural springs, wells, etc., developed or naturally formed to supply drinking water to multiple people. These are facilities designated by the mayor, county governor, or district head, either with a constant user population of 50 or more, or fewer than 50 but recognized as needing water quality management.
This inspection aims to create an environment where residents can safely drink water by checking the water quality and management status of drinking water communal facilities. This year, to prevent the spread of COVID-19, informational leaflets on personal hygiene will also be distributed along with the water quality inspections.
The Institute of Health and Environment will collect samples from a total of 318 drinking water communal facilities?199 in the southern region and 119 in the northern region?and conduct tests. Facilities found to have substandard water quality will be immediately reported to the relevant city or county department, and their use will be requested to be suspended.
For facilities deemed improvable, measures such as ▲removal of surrounding pollution sources ▲reinforcement of water intake facilities ▲disinfection will be carried out, followed by re-inspection to ensure safe water quality.
