Korea Publishers Association Donates Over 14,000 Books to COVID-19 Treatment Centers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jonggil Lee] The Korea Publishing Culture Association announced on the 23rd that it delivered about 14,000 books to the Daegu City Donation Center on the 21st for patients infected with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). These books will be distributed to fourteen residential treatment centers where mild patients are isolated and living. Yoon Cheol-ho, president of the association, said, “We hope the patients achieve emotional stability and recover quickly.” The association accepted donated books from member publishers and organizations from the 16th to the 18th. More than the expected 13,000 books were collected, leading to the donation deadline being moved up by a day and the donation quantities being adjusted by publisher. Even after the deadline, donation inquiries flooded in, and about 1,000 additional books were accepted and sent to Daegu.
