Naju-si to Reduce Water and Sewage Charges by 50% and Freeze Rates Within the Year Starting Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Han-hyuk Lee] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 23rd that it will reduce water and sewage fees by 50% for all households for three months starting next month and freeze the fees for the rest of the year.
The city decided to temporarily reduce and freeze water and sewage fees by applying Article 40 of the City Water Supply Ordinance and Article 21 of the Sewage Usage Ordinance, considering the economic conditions of all citizens, including small business owners, self-employed workers, and farmers who are struggling due to the economic downturn caused by COVID-19.
The reduction targets 24,992 water supply accounts for household, general, and industrial use, and 14,245 sewage accounts, providing a reduction benefit worth 1.416 billion KRW over three months. Citizens do not need to apply separately, as the fees from next month to June will be automatically charged at a 50% reduced rate.
