[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Chang-woo Lee) is supplying ‘Youth Customized Purchased Rental Housing’ to help stabilize housing for single-person households of young people without homes.
The youth housing supplied this time consists of 15 newly built units purchased by Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH), located in Sangdo 4-dong, with an exclusive area of 23 to 28㎡.
The rent is set at 1.3 million to 2.6 million KRW for the deposit and 170,000 to 340,000 KRW per month, which is about 40 to 50% of the surrounding market price, and residents can live for up to 6 years.
Applicants will be recruited until the 27th, the selection results will be announced in June, and move-in will begin in July.
Eligibility requirements are young people aged 19 to 39 residing in Seoul who are members of a non-home-owning household with a monthly average income below 70% of the standard by household size as of the announcement date (March 16, 2020).
Applicants living in other cities or provinces can also apply if they are university students, workers, or public official exam candidates in Dongjak-gu, and extra points are given if they live in (semi-)basements, goshiwon, or rooftop rooms.
Youth wishing to move in can apply by referring to the announcement on the district website or the SH Corporation website and sending an application via email (okjsun0303@dongjak.co.kr).
Using the ‘Move-in Application Guide Video’ posted on the Dongjak-gu YouTube channel makes it easier to complete the application form.
The district has supplied 210 units of demand-tailored public rental housing so far and plans to supply an additional 90 units for youth and newlyweds this year.
