People Party Reveals Proportional Representation Candidates... No. 1 Choi Yeon-sook, Deputy Director of Daegu Dongsan Hospital
No. 2 Itaegyu and No. 3 Kwon Eunhee... Incumbent Lawmakers Fully Positioned
After Electorate Approval Vote... Final Confirmation at Tomorrow's Supreme Council Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The People’s Party, led by Representative Ahn Cheol-soo, has announced its proportional representation candidates for the April 15 general election.
On the 22nd, the People’s Party revealed the final list of 26 proportional representation candidates on its website, placing Choi Yeon-sook, head nurse at Keimyung University Daegu Dongsan Hospital, at number 1; Representative Lee Tae-gyu at number 2; and Representative Kwon Eun-hee at number 3.
Dongsan Hospital, where Head Nurse Choi is affiliated, is the place where Representative Ahn recently spent two weeks in Daegu volunteering for COVID-19 treatment.
At number 4 is Kim Geun-tae, former head of the Seoul National University branch of the National Democratic Youth Union, who led the 'Resign Cho Kuk' rally at Seoul National University; at number 5 is Choi Dan-bi, a professor at Wonkwang University Law School who served as spokesperson for Ahn’s campaign during the 2018 local elections when he ran for Seoul mayor.
Kim Do-sik, chief secretary to the party leader; Ahn Hye-jin, CEO of City Plus; Kim Yoon, chairperson of the Seoul City Party Committee; and Kim Ye-rim, deputy spokesperson of the party, were placed at numbers 6 through 9, respectively. At number 10 is Sa Gong Jeong-gyu, chair of the party’s COVID-19 Task Force, who volunteered alongside Representative Ahn in Daegu.
Numbers 11 through 20 include Seoul City Council member Kim Hyun-ah; former auditor of the Korean Oriental Medicine Association Jin Yong-woo; lawyer Jung Soo-kyung; former vice chairman of the People’s Party 5th Policy Committee Jung Kwang-ho; Professor Shin Kyung-hee of the Cyber Lifelong Education Institute specializing in social welfare; former adjunct professor at Inha University Law School Lee Hyun-woong; Jung Ju-yeol, president of the Gyeonggi Province Federation of Korean Mothers’ Associations; Wi Sung-jin, CEO of Real TV; former Bareunmirae Party Gwacheon-Uiwang regional chairman Park Jae-young; and Kim Do-gyun, director of the Korea Immigration Foundation.
Numbers 21 through 25 include Shin Na-ri, chair of external cooperation at the Korean Life-saving Association; Jang Yoon-seop, manager at Hyundai Motor Company; Chae Myung-hee, director of Baekdam Medical Foundation Hanul Nursing Hospital; former Cheonan City Council member in Chungnam Ahn Jong-hyuk; and former Incheon Seo-gu Council member Park Sam-sook.

This list was created through a group discussion interview held on the 20th at the party headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, with 40 preliminary candidates, followed by a yes/no vote by an electoral college of 120 party members the previous day. The party’s Supreme Council will finalize the list through a resolution on the 23rd.
