WFP Secretary-General Tests Positive for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] David Beasley, Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), has tested positive for COVID-19. Beasley announced on the WFP website on the 19th (local time) in a statement, "I tested positive for COVID-19 in the test results from the past few hours."
Beasley said, "After officially visiting Canada last weekend and returning to my home in the United States, I have not been feeling well," adding, "I decided to self-isolate five days ago."
Regarding his current condition, he said, "It is relatively mild," and added, "We are currently cooperating closely with WFP and tracing people who had contact with me before the positive diagnosis."

Beasley continued, "WFP must continue providing food assistance to the many people around the world who depend on it," and stated, "I am confident that the strong leadership team around me and the staff in over 80 countries worldwide will continue to do what needs to be done while I recover."
