The "Adding Hope to Overcome the COVID-19 Crisis" project is an emotional support initiative aimed at delivering messages of hope and comfort for the spring days ahead by sharing flower pots along with encouragement messages from neighbors to over 400 vulnerable elderly people who are socially and emotionally isolated due to COVID-19.
By selecting flower shops in the neighborhoods where the elderly live, the project helps support the economy of small business owners facing livelihood threats due to COVID-19 and fosters neighborhood connections through activities that link neighbors. This detailed planning to form local relational networks by neighborhood is expected to act as a catalyst for restoring community spirit by sustaining interest and sharing for elderly people living alone in the area.
A young participant in the encouragement message campaign conveyed warm feelings, saying, "We will be with you today and tomorrow so that you can overcome these difficult times of COVID-19 in good health. We are strong together, and everything will be fine."
The Life Line Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, which operates the customized elderly care service in Seongbuk-gu, provides care services including safety support, emotional support, and customized case management to elderly people in need in Wolgok 1·2-dong, Bomun-dong, Anam-dong, and Jangwi 1-dong areas, along with various sponsorship linkage activities.
