Kookmin Bank to Launch Pengsoo Savings Account
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] KB Kookmin Bank is launching a Pengsoo savings account.
According to the financial sector on the 21st, Kookmin Bank recently signed a contract to use Pengsoo, the popular character from EBS Giant Peng TV, for marketing purposes.
A Kookmin Bank official stated, "Pengsoo will be utilized in the bank's online and offline marketing." Following KB Kookmin Card, Pengsoo has now partnered with Kookmin Bank.
The installment savings account featuring the Pengsoo character is expected to be released as early as next month.
Additionally, Kookmin Bank is reportedly considering using Pengsoo for open banking events and currency exchange service promotions.
Pengsoo is a character created by EBS and a YouTuber with 2.11 million subscribers. Due to the nature of the channel, Pengsoo is popular not only among teenagers but also among young adults in their 20s and 30s, as well as middle-aged people over 40. Pengsoo recently celebrated the first anniversary of its debut.
Following KB Kookmin Card, Pengsoo's marketing collaboration with Kookmin Bank continues the special relationship with KB Financial Group.

Last month, KB Kookmin Card released the ‘KB Kookmin Pengsoo Nori Check Card,’ which gained great popularity. The card design featured Pengsoo's unique greeting pose ‘Pengha (Pengsoo + Hi)’ and various expressions made into emoticons. This card was issued 40,000 times within a day of its release.
