Ministry of Environment "3-Month Extension for Diesel Vehicle Environmental Charges Payment... Easing COVID-19 Burden"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Ministry of Environment announced on the 20th that it will extend the payment deadline for the Environmental Improvement Charge by three months to alleviate the burden on the public caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Environmental Improvement Charge is imposed twice a year, in March and September, on owners of diesel vehicles. The amount is calculated based on the vehicle's age, registration area, and engine displacement.
With this measure, the payment deadline for the Environmental Improvement Charge for the first half of this year will be extended from the original March 31 to June 30, a three-month extension. Those required to pay can do so online through local government platforms such as 'e-Tax' or 'Internet Giro' without visiting financial institutions.
