Soongsil University Selected as Lead Institution for 'Early Startup Package'

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Soongsil University announced on the 19th that it has been selected as the lead institution for the Early Startup Package project, organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development.
The Early Startup Package project aims to revitalize regional startups within designated areas through universities with excellent startup infrastructure, public and private institutions, and supports the stabilization and growth of early-stage startups within three years of establishment.
Soongsil University will receive funding for three years to select and financially support early-stage startups and operate specialized startup programs. It will offer 30 practical startup courses and Naver-linked practical training sessions, and establish a smart open platform to advance AI and technology convergence-based startup items.

Additionally, the smart open platform will begin with an indoor drone flight zone and virtual/augmented reality simulator room established in Soongsil University's Hyungnam Engineering Building, and plans to invest 4 billion KRW to develop smart factories and more. By 2022, Soongsil University plans to expand startup spaces by establishing the Soongsil Startup Dongjak Campus and attract 20 outstanding startup companies.
