Man in his 40s kills woman in common-law relationship... Suicide attempt in police detention center
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] A man in his 40s who killed a woman with whom he was in a common-law relationship attempted suicide in a police station detention center.
On the 19th, the Gwangju Western Police Station announced that A (45), who was detained on suspicion of murder, tried to take his own life around 10 a.m. using the underwear he was wearing.
A was transported to a nearby hospital by the 119 rescue team and is reported to be in a stable condition without life-threatening injuries.
It is reported that A also attempted suicide at an apartment in Naju, Jeollanam-do, around 9 p.m. on the 14th.
Before lighting a charcoal briquette, he reportedly told relatives that he had killed B (52), the woman with whom he was in a common-law relationship.
The police apprehended A at the scene, transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment, and then detained him in the police station’s detention center.
