Taiwan to Ban Entry of All Foreigners Starting from the 19th
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Seon-mi] Taiwan has banned the entry of foreigners to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to Bloomberg on the 18th, Chen Si-zhong, commander of the Central Epidemic Command Center and Minister of Health, stated, "From the 19th, the ban on entry of all foreigners will begin," and "the lifting date will be decided later after monitoring the COVID-19 situation."
However, among foreigners, those holding Taiwan residence permits, diplomats, and people entering to carry out business contracts are exceptions and can enter after undergoing a limited approval process.
This measure was taken despite the improvement in the COVID-19 spread situation within Taiwan, as confirmed cases among people entering from overseas continue to increase.
