Gwangju City Announces Call for Organizations to Participate in Filial Piety Promotion Project Until the 26th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 17th that it will be recruiting participating organizations for the ‘2020 Filial Piety Cultivation and Filial Conduct Promotion Project’ to encourage a culture of respect for the elderly until the 26th.
The recruitment targets projects related to filial piety, including education and etiquette experience programs, video production to spread filial culture, school touring theatrical performances, and other projects aimed at promoting respect for the elderly and creating a social atmosphere for practicing filial piety. The total support budget is 20 million KRW.
Eligible participants include non-profit corporations, social welfare corporations, and non-profit private organizations located in Gwangju. Applications should be submitted in person to the Aging Society Policy Division on the 2nd floor of City Hall, referring to the announcement posted on the City Hall website under Notices and Announcements.
Submitted projects will be reviewed based on the appropriateness, feasibility, originality, economic efficiency, ripple effect, project execution capability, and recent performance in senior welfare promotion activities to determine the support recipients and funding amounts.
Since 2010, Gwangju City, together with the City Office of Education, has continuously conducted filial piety education and experiential activities tailored to each generation’s level by visiting elementary, middle, and high schools directly, including puppet shows, ventriloquism, and concerts.
Last year, to provide opportunities for citizens to participate and practice directly, a new project called the ‘Filial Culture Content Contest’ was held. Among the approximately 330 submitted works, 18 outstanding pieces were exhibited in the lobby on the 1st floor of City Hall, and a photo essay book was also produced, contributing to the spread of filial culture in the local community.
