Bearing Asset Management Launches 'Global Investment Grade Strategy Mixed Asset Fund'
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] Barings Asset Management announced on the 17th the launch of the Barings Global Investment Grade Strategy Mixed Asset Sub-Fund (Feeder Fund) (hereinafter referred to as the Barings Global Investment Grade Strategy Fund).
This product diversifies investments across various global investment grade assets, including global corporate bonds, collateralized securities, and emerging market bonds. It aims to maintain low volatility while pursuing absolute returns in a market environment with high uncertainty due to geopolitical risks and potential interest rate fluctuations.
Barings Asset Management stated, “Most of the portfolio is allocated to investment grade assets, with selective allocation of up to 20% in high-yield bonds, allowing flexible capture of investment opportunities within the market. The portfolio duration is managed short, up to 3 years, actively addressing interest rate (volatility) risk, which differentiates it from typical bond funds.”
The Global Investment Grade Strategy Mixed Asset Fund diversifies corporate bond investment risks and seeks additional spread by investing in assets not included in traditional corporate bond indices, such as collateralized securities. Especially in the late phase of the economic cycle, where various risks exist, it flexibly invests in asset classes presenting the most attractive investment opportunities, expecting risk-adjusted returns.
The portfolio is managed based on Barings’ unique investment process. Barings Asset Management explained, “The ‘Global Investment Grade Asset Allocation Committee,’ composed of representatives from various asset classes, meets biweekly to decide overall strategic directions such as relative value, sector allocation, geographic preferences, and duration management, fostering synergy among teams. The global investment grade multi-strategy team, with over 70 analysts, selects individual securities through thorough fundamental analysis and manages the portfolio based on Barings’ proprietary duration management strategy, verified by a track record spanning 30 years.”
Ba In-su, CEO of Barings Asset Management Korea, said, “We are pleased to introduce Barings’ Global Investment Grade Strategy Mixed Asset Fund in line with the continuous demand for investment grade bond investments. Maintaining a certain level of investment grade assets within the investment portfolio amid uncertain market conditions is expected to contribute to the overall portfolio stability. We will continue to make efforts to meet the diverse investment needs of domestic investors.”
