"If You Donate Health Masks, We Give You Cotton Masks"
Seoul City Supports 'Good Mask Campaign' at Major Subway Stations
Citizen-Donated Masks Prioritized for Medical Staff and Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City will launch the 'Good Mask Campaign' starting on the 16th to prioritize the use of health masks (KF80/94) for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and pregnant women, medical institutions, and workers who interact with many customers and are at high risk of infection.
Recently, a 'Mask Giving Up' campaign has been spreading in civil society, encouraging people to give up their chance to purchase public masks and even donate masks. In this context, Seoul City has decided to present citizens who donate health masks with a 'Good Mask Set' consisting of a cloth mask and portable hand sanitizer.
To this end, Seoul City will invest a total of 9.7 billion KRW to produce 3.2 million Good Mask Sets at sewing factories in Seoul that are experiencing business difficulties.
The health masks donated by citizens will be distributed to medical staff, workers at nursing hospitals, vulnerable health groups, and occupations vulnerable to infection that require contact with many people.
This campaign will be held every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM at about 100 major subway stations throughout Seoul. Detailed locations can be checked on the Seoul City website or through the Dasan Call Center (phone 120).
Starting from the 23rd, Seoul City will also secure electrostatic filters and prioritize providing 600,000 filter-replaceable cloth masks and 3 million filters to seniors, disability groups, and low-income groups who have difficulty obtaining health masks. The filter-replaceable cloth mask inserts an electrostatic filter between cloth mask layers to achieve performance equivalent to or better than KF80 masks.

Jin Hee-seon, Deputy Mayor of Administration of Seoul City, said, "Currently, even in places where masks are essential, such as medical institutions, nursing hospitals, and workers in dense work environments like call centers, masks are in short supply. Although one mask is precious, we support the Good Mask Campaign to encourage giving up masks for those who need them more, and Seoul City officials, district office staff, and employees of investment and public institutions will also participate."
