129 Confirmed Cases Related to Seoul Guro Call Center... "Active Monitoring Continues Even if Negative"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) related to the mass infection at the call center in Guro-gu, Seoul, has increased to a total of 129, including the Incheon and Gyeonggi areas.
Park Won-soon, Mayor of Seoul, held a briefing on the morning of the 16th and announced that as of 10 a.m. that day, there were 129 confirmed cases nationwide related to the Guro Korea Building call center.
This is the result of testing 1,115 related individuals, including all contacts such as employees working in this building, their families, and acquaintances. By residence of confirmed cases, Seoul remained the same as the previous day with 79 cases, Gyeonggi had 32 cases, and Incheon had 18 cases.
Mayor Park said, "We designated the Korea Building, where the call center is located, as a special infectious disease support zone and elevated the administrative first deputy mayor to the role of controller," adding, "We conducted PCR tests for all employees and focused all efforts on epidemiological investigations of confirmed cases."
Seoul City plans to especially identify nearby residents, acquaintances, family members, and close contacts, and will monitor those in self-quarantine and active surveillance on an ongoing basis.

Mayor Park emphasized, "We have established a monitoring system that continues active surveillance even if the test result is negative," and added, "We will expand the management scope to include former call center employees and build a continuous monitoring system to thoroughly identify all areas where the infection may have spread."
