Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation Announces Recruitment for 4th Class of 'OnDream Global Academy'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ji-hee] The Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced on the 16th that it is recruiting participants for the 4th OnDream Global Academy, aimed at young people aspiring to enter international organizations.
Launched in 2017, the OnDream Global Academy is operated with the foundation's support and the educational system of Korea University's Ilmin International Relations Institute.
The 4th OnDream Global Academy, running for 10 months from May 2020 to February 2021, offers a program composed of lectures by top instructors including international organization field experts and distinguished figures, as well as practical training experiences at domestic and overseas international organizations, combining professionalism and field experience. The curriculum includes spring and fall semester courses (each 10 weeks), summer semester visits to international organizations located in Korea, and winter semester visits to international organizations located in the United States. Full scholarships cover all educational expenses, and financial support is also provided for advancement into overseas international organizations.
The program supports a step-by-step systematic curriculum on global issues such as poverty, development cooperation, economic development and welfare, human rights, and the creation of international public goods. It also offers mentoring to build a sustainable future-oriented expert network. Students from the previous 3rd cohort met with notable figures such as Oh Jun, Chairman of Save the Children Korea, Kim Won-soo, former UN Under-Secretary-General, and Lim Hyung-jun, Director of the UN World Food Programme Korea Office.
Through this, among a total of 85 students up to the 3rd cohort, 35 have advanced to organizations such as the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), United Nations Office for West Africa and the Sahel (UNOWAS), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNECLAC), and Asian Development Bank (ADB). Among them, 17 graduates who entered overseas international organizations received benefits of up to 5 million KRW in financial support. The support amount is scheduled to increase to a maximum of 9 million KRW starting this year.
