[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Professor Choi Hye-young of Kangdong University, a person with spinal cord disability, was selected as number 1 on the Democratic Party's proportional representation candidate list for the April 15 general election, and Lieutenant General Kim Byung-joo, Deputy Commander of the ROK-US Combined Forces Command, was selected as number 2. The Democratic Party's Election Commission announced the results of the proportional representation candidate ranking vote, including this information, on the 14th at the Yeouido Central Party Office.
According to the Central Committee voting results, in the restricted competition fields, number 1 (female with disability) and number 2 (diplomacy and security) proportional representation candidates were respectively selected as Professor Choi, a newly recruited talent for the general election from the Democratic Party, and former Deputy Commander Kim. Supreme Council Member Lee Su-jin received number 3, and Chairman Kim was assigned number 4.
Additionally, former non-standing member of the National Human Rights Commission Yang Jeong-sook was selected as number 5, Jeon Yong-gi, Chairperson of the Democratic Party's National University Student Committee, as number 6, Yang Kyung-sook, Director of the Korea Fiscal Policy Institute, as number 7, and Lee Kyung-soo, former Deputy Director-General of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) International Organization, as number 8, all entering the electable range.
In the restricted competition fields, number 9 (vulnerable regions) and number 10 (party affairs development) were assigned to Jeong Jong-sook, Vice Chairperson of the Central Party Policy Committee, and Jeong Ji-young, Secretary-General of the Seoul City Party, respectively.
‘Taeho’s Mom’ Lee So-hyun, an activist of 'Mothers in Politics,' was assigned number 11, Kwon Ji-woong, Chairperson of the Mindalpaengi Union, number 12, and Park Myung-sook, Head of Policy Planning at the Korean Pharmaceutical Association, number 13.
Others include Lee Sang-i, co-representative of the Welfare State Society (number 14), Kang Kyung-sook, professor at Wonkwang University (number 15), Jeong Woo-sik, full-time vice president of the Korea Photovoltaic Industry Association (number 16), Baek Hye-sook, expert advisor at the Seoul Agricultural and Marine Products Corporation (number 17), Kim Sang-min, vice chairperson of the National Farmers and Fishermen Committee (number 18), Park Eun-soo, vice chairperson of the National University Student Committee (number 19), and Choi Hoe-yong, former co-representative of Participation Autonomy 21 (number 20).
The five preliminary ranking successors include Lee Sang-mi, Government Cooperation Coordinator at UNICEF Korea, Kim Na-yeon, manager at Hana Bank, lawyer Jeong I-su, Seo Guk-hwa, co-representative of the Animal Rights Research Lawyer Group PNR, and tax accountant Kim Hyun-joo.
