On the 13th, Gwangyang Mayor Jeong Hyun-bok announced that he visited the site where COVID-19 prevention cloth masks were being made to encourage volunteer talent donors.
The Gwangyang City Traditional Clothing Research Association (President Kim Bok-yeon) produced 2,000 masks, the Women's Association Council (President Kim Ji-yeon) 1,000 masks, the Gwangyang City Volunteer Center (Director Kim Jeong-sun) 1,000 masks, female culture university instructors and students (Lead instructor Park Seong-pil) 400 masks, and the Jeonnam Gwangyang Climate Environment Network produced 2,500 masks, making a total of 6,900 masks.
Kim Ji-yeon, president of the Women's Association Council, said, "I am glad to contribute through talent donation," and added, "I hope the masks we made will help prevent COVID-19."
Mayor Jeong Hyun-bok encouraged, "I sincerely thank many people who are giving great support to Gwangyang City's COVID-19 prevention," and stated, "The voluntary participation of citizens to overcome the novel coronavirus infection situation is a great force in promoting infectious disease prevention."
The produced cloth masks are being distributed to city officials to lead by example in wearing cloth masks, in accordance with the shortage of health masks and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety's recommendations on cloth mask use.
