Nanomedics Hires Battery Development Expert... Accelerating Graphene Material Secondary Battery Development
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Following its investment in a Chinese secondary battery specialist company, Nanomedics is appointing a battery materials expert as an inside director. This is expected to accelerate the development of next-generation batteries.
Nanomedics announced on the 12th that it will appoint Dr. Kang Taekyung, a battery materials expert, as an inside director at the regular shareholders' meeting scheduled for the 30th.
Nanomedics plans to focus on developing various graphene solutions such as cathode, anode, conductive agents, and coating layers, led by Dr. Kang Taekyung, to advance its customized battery materials business.
In the solid-state battery field, which Japan has taken the lead in, the company has completed cell design using graphene solutions. It is accelerating efforts to develop a solid-state battery prototype.
Dr. Kang Taekyung, who is expected to be appointed as the new inside director, is a former researcher at a major corporation and currently serves as the head of the technology team at Jiangsu Fengcheng New Energy Power (FC New Energy), where Nanomedics is the second-largest shareholder. He has strengths in new technology research and commercialization.
While most electric vehicle batteries are known to have a capacity of around 220~240wh/kg, Dr. Kang developed a high-capacity electric vehicle battery with approximately 260wh/kg and registered it with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (工信部).
A company official explained, "We recently invested in a Chinese secondary battery specialist company and are developing next-generation batteries applying graphene as a key material."
