[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] The Ministry of National Defense has formed the 'Defense Rapid Support Unit' to enhance the speed and efficiency of military support related to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to the Ministry of National Defense on the 12th, the Defense Rapid Support Unit serves as a 'control tower' that comprehensively identifies military support needs and effectively allocates available resources.
The head of the Rapid Support Unit is Colonel Lee Bok-gyun, the logistics officer. The Rapid Support Unit, composed of quarantine, transportation, supplies, construction, and welfare teams, has also designated regional responsible units by zones (Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Seoul-Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, etc.).
The Ministry of National Defense explained that the Rapid Support Unit has established a 'one-stop' support system integrating the identification and operation of support needs, enabling support teams and dedicated units to be permanently operated so that available personnel and equipment can be immediately deployed on site.
