Gurye-gun 'Omjirak Kkomjirak' Senior Job Project Group Donates 1,000 Cloth Masks
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yuk Miseok] On the 12th, it was announced that the ‘Omjirak Kkomjirak’ senior job project group, affiliated with the Korea Senior Citizens Association Gurye-gun Branch (President Son Byeong-gwan), donated 1,000 handmade cotton masks on the 11th in Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do.
The 10 participants of the ‘Omjirak Kkomjirak’ project group have been handcrafting 200 cotton masks daily since the 6th. This effort was to help vulnerable elderly people who have difficulty purchasing masks.
The county plans to distribute these cotton masks, filled with the warm hearts of the residents, to elderly people in vulnerable groups who face challenges in buying hygiene products.
The team leader of the ‘Omjirak Kkomjirak’ project group said, “It was a joyful experience to make masks as it gave us an opportunity to actively participate in overcoming COVID-19.”
Kim Sun-ho, the governor of Gurye-gun, said, “I was moved by the sight of residents of Gurye-gun making cotton masks themselves to prevent infections,” and added, “We will mobilize all administrative power to block the spread of COVID-19.”
