Surpassing 2 Million Views in 9 Days Since March 1 Release,

The Spirit of the 3.1 Movement Delivered as a 'Message of Hope'
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo Gang-wook] KB Kookmin Bank announced on the 11th that the commemorative video "Daehan Has Lived" 2020 version, released on last Samiljeol (March 1st Movement Day), surpassed 2 million views within 9 days of its release.
The commemorative video was also used as the official video during the live broadcast of the 101st anniversary ceremony of the March 1st Movement, gaining significant attention.
"Daehan Has Lived" recreates the song sung by seven female independence activists (Kim Hyang-hwa, Kwon Ae-ra, Shin Gwan-bin, Shim Myeong-cheol, Im Myeong-ae, Eo Yun-hee, Yu Gwan-sun) who were imprisoned together in Cell 8 of Yeoksa at Seodaemun Prison immediately after the March 1st Movement and carried out the Manse (Long Live) movement even while incarcerated. The lyrics were passed down without melody by their descendants, and last year KB Kookmin Bank composed music for it, reviving the song after 100 years.
In the original version, composed by Jung Jae-il, sung by Park Jung-hyun, and narrated by Kim Yuna, the video expressed the aspirations of independence fighters wishing for "eternal peace" that resonated beyond the harsh reality of Cell 8 in Yeoksa 100 years ago. The "2020 version" carries the meaning that this year, the 101st anniversary of the March 1st Movement, marks the first year of a new 100 years for the Republic of Korea, which will become even greater beyond the past 100 years of remarkable development through the sacrifices of independence heroes. Representing the youth, the protagonists of the new century, rapper Mad Clown and singer Luna performed the song, with music director Jung Jae-il arranging this version as well.
Comments on the video include messages honoring the spirit of the March 1st Movement such as "We will never forget our gratitude to all those who worked hard for the independence movement" and "Korea can overcome the current difficulties well," as well as many hopeful messages encouraging all citizens to stay strong amid the challenges caused by COVID-19.
