Lotte Myeon City Store, Operating Hours Reduced by an Additional Hour

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] Lotte Duty Free has decided to shorten the operating hours of its downtown duty-free stores by an additional hour. This decision was made as the COVID-19 pandemic continues and the number of tourists has decreased, making it unnecessary to maintain previous business hours.
According to the duty-free industry on the 11th, Lotte Duty Free recently notified its employees that starting from the 12th, the operating hours of five downtown duty-free stores will be changed to 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Previously, on the 4th of last month, Lotte Duty Free had shortened its business hours to 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM. The affected stores include Myeongdong Main Store, World Tower Store, COEX Store, Busan Store, and Jeju Store.
Lotte Duty Free aims to provide maximum safety and convenience for its employees and partners amid the COVID-19 situation. The recent reduction in downtown duty-free store hours is part of this effort. Lotte Duty Free has implemented extended remote work, short-term leave systems, and a four-day workweek. Employees who wish to take leave for reasons such as family care can use the short-term leave system for periods ranging from two weeks to one month. The four-day workweek system is also being applied to headquarters staff who volunteer.
A Lotte Duty Free representative said, "This is still under discussion and final adjustments are being made."

Not only Lotte Duty Free but also Shilla Duty Free and Shinsegae Duty Free are implementing reduced operating hours. Shilla Duty Free temporarily changed the Seoul store’s operating hours to 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM starting from the 7th of last month. Shinsegae Duty Free also changed the operating hours of its Myeongdong, Gangnam, and Busan stores to 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM starting from the 1st.
