View original image[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Yoo Si-min, chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, said on the 10th that the proportional representation alliance party "will inevitably become a Democratic Party proportional representation specialist party, no matter what it is called."
On the same day, Yoo said on the YouTube channel 'Alileo Live,' "Whether the format is the 'Political Reform Alliance' platform, the 'For the Citizens' platform, or the Open Democratic Party, if they all merge into one platform and send proportional representation candidates there, it will inevitably become a Democratic Party proportional representation specialist party."
Yoo proposed a way for the Democratic Party to cooperate with minor parties without participating in the proportional representation alliance party. He suggested nominating only a small number of proportional representation candidates and asking supporters to vote for progressive reform parties such as the Justice Party and the Green Party.
He said, "The only case where a full party member vote can be held is when the Democratic Party does not nominate proportional representation candidates," adding, "Since this is a case where they do not do what they obviously should, it is meaningful to go through a procedure to gather party members' opinions when making an exceptional decision."
He explained, "We nominate proportional representation candidates, but ask voters to actively vote for parties that are expected to cooperate with us in the 21st National Assembly, including parties created outside to block the advance of the United Future Party, and parties that voters think are doing better."
Yoo predicted that in this case, parties that field candidates in the same constituencies, such as the Democratic Party, the United Future Party, and the Justice Party, might unify their candidates. As an example, he mentioned 'Gyeonggi Anyang Dongan-eul,' where Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Jae-jung, United Future Party floor leader Shim Jae-cheol, and Justice Party lawmaker Chu Hye-sun are expected to compete.
Yoo said, "In that case, in battleground areas like the metropolitan area or Gyeongnam, compared to creating a proportional representation specialist party, nominating only a few proportional representation candidates and actively encouraging votes for other parties is more likely to increase constituency seats," adding, "Except for the United Future Party and the Future Korea Party, I consider all others friends."
