9th COVID-19 Case Among USFK Personnel
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu]The 9th confirmed case of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has been reported among the US Forces Korea.
The US Forces Korea Command announced on the 10th, "A Korean worker employed at Camp Walker (Daegu US military base) tested positive for COVID-19," adding, "This is the 9th confirmed case among US Forces Korea personnel."
The confirmed case has been quarantined in off-base accommodation following the instructions of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Epidemiological investigations are underway by the CDC and US Forces Korea health experts to determine whether the confirmed case had contact with others.
US Forces Korea explained, "So far, among the COVID-19 confirmed cases in US Forces Korea, only one is a soldier." Of the 9 confirmed cases, 8 are family members of soldiers or civilian employees.

Due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions last month on the 19th, US Forces Korea raised the risk level from 'Low' to 'Moderate.' On the 25th, the risk level for the entire Korean Peninsula was elevated to 'High' and remains at that level.
