Gwangju Teachers Take Active Steps to Address Learning Gaps Amid COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Teachers affiliated with the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Jang Hwikuk) have actively stepped up to address the learning gap caused by the spread of COVID-19.
According to the Gwangju Office of Education on the 8th, following the Ministry of Education's Level 1 closure measure, which applies a closure without reducing the number of school days, online learning rooms were opened and preview materials were provided, along with access to learning sites such as EBS. As a result, online learning rooms were established in all classes under the Gwangju Office of Education, and preparations for providing online learning services were completed.
The Gwangju Video Teachers’ Group ‘ChamNemo’ and the ‘Information Subject Teachers’ Group’ created and distributed videos on how to open learning rooms on e-Hakseupter and EBS Class, as well as how students can use them, greatly assisting teachers and students unfamiliar with setting up learning rooms.
On the Online Learning Support Center Band, established to share information about online learning services, teachers share their own content and various information for online learning.
Im Seong-yeol, a teacher at Ildong Elementary School who participated in producing instructional videos, said, “I was glad to have the opportunity to help students and fellow teachers during this national crisis,” adding, “I hope the day comes soon when I can meet students in the classroom rather than online.”
