According to major Japanese media outlets such as Kyodo News and NHK, as of 4:30 PM on the 9th, the total number of confirmed cases reported by local governments across Japan increased by 16 in one day, bringing the total number of infections in Japan to 496.
Including 696 infections from the cruise ship "Diamond Princess" and 14 people who were diagnosed after returning from Wuhan, China via charter flight, the total number of infections in Japan reaches 1,206.

The region with the highest number of COVID-19 patients is Hokkaido, where 7 additional infections were confirmed in Sapporo and other areas, increasing the total to 108. Additionally, 3 new cases were reported in Kyoto, 2 in Niigata, 2 (a mother and daughter) in Nara, 1 in Kobe, and 1 in Ishikawa.
