Daegu Sees Decrease in COVID-19 Cases... Cases Increasing in the Capital Area
Today, 248 New Cases Added: Seoul 10, Gyeonggi 11
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Although the number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Daegu has significantly decreased, the occurrence of double-digit cases in the Seoul metropolitan area, including Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, has kept concerns about community transmission from subsiding.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters on the 9th, as of midnight, out of 248 additional confirmed cases, 10 were reported in Seoul and 11 in Gyeonggi Province. Excluding Daegu (190 cases) and North Gyeongsang Province (26 cases), which are the epicenters of cluster infections, these regions reported double-digit cases.
According to Seoul City, a total of seven new cases were added in Dongdaemun-gu, including the father-in-law, mother-in-law, wife, and a 4-week-old infant of an existing confirmed patient, forming a family cluster. Additionally, one new case each was reported in Nowon-gu and Gangnam-gu.
A patient who concealed the fact that they came from Daegu and was hospitalized at Seoul Paik Hospital before being confirmed positive was also included in the additional confirmed cases. In Gyeonggi Province, 11 new cases were added, mainly among contacts of existing patients, including patient number 31.
