Online Sales of Massage Chairs Up 10% in January Compared to Last Year, Small Massage Devices Increase 50% in February
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Healthcare specialist company Hutech Industry (CEO Ju Seong-jin) announced on the 9th that due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), online sales of massage chairs and massagers increased by up to 50% compared to the same period last year.
Hutech explained that online sales of massage chairs in January this year increased by 10% compared to last year, and sales of small massagers increased by 50% compared to February last year. The massage chair model 'i7' showed the highest sales volume. Among small massagers, the 'Kakao Friends Ryan & Apeach Massage Cushion' notably saw increased sales, which is analyzed to have been mostly purchased as gifts ahead of Valentine's Day in February and White Day in March.

Regarding the increase in sales of massage chairs and massagers compared to the same period last year, Hutech explained, "Due to the impact of COVID-19, outings have decreased, and consumers tend to purchase massage chairs at relatively affordable prices online without visiting road shop stores." Kim Su-jin, MD of Hutech's Online Sales Team, said, "To meet customer demand, we plan to hold a special exhibition for the SQ9 massage chair equipped with sonic vibration massage function soon on Wemakeprice, along with Auction All Kill and Gmarket Super Deal events."
