Jung-gu Council Proposes 3.1 Billion KRW Increase to Overcome Difficulties in COVID-19 Quarantine Sites
Jung-gu Council, Closing of the 256th Extraordinary Session
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Jung-gu Council of Seoul (Chairman Jo Young-hoon) held the 256th extraordinary session on the 4th in the main conference hall, where it processed urgent supplementary budget proposals related to COVID-19 and then adjourned.
Of the total 16.5 billion KRW proposed in the 2020 first supplementary budget submitted by the executive branch, 5.36443 billion KRW was cut from the general account, 2.53886 billion KRW was cut from the special account, and 3.104 billion KRW was increased in the general account. The difference of 4.7993 billion KRW was fully allocated to contingency funds.
▲ Some cuts were made to the Jung-gu Cultural Foundation support management grants, Jung-gu All Child Care Project event operation expenses and construction corporation transfers, and public parking lot construction facility costs ▲ The traditional market sales promotion project was increased.
Meanwhile, to provide immediate support for the urgent issues of on-site personnel and supply shortages arising from the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, the council proposed increasing the budget for ▲ COVID-19 infection response management ▲ additional staffing and operation of screening clinics, as well as ▲ funds to foster small and medium-sized enterprises to revitalize the stagnating local economy.
Chairman Jo Young-hoon stated, “The extraordinary session was held focusing on handling urgent matters such as COVID-19. Despite the difficult circumstances, I repeatedly urge the executive branch to demonstrate cooperative governance through consistent administration and mutual communication.”
