[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] Recently, a list of dozens of celebrities has been circulated in the form of a rumor sheet claiming that "famous celebrities are members of Shincheonji," causing top celebrities to suffer from 'Shincheonji rumors.'
The rumor sheet, with an unclear source, mentioned the names of top stars such as Yoo Jae-suk, Jang Dong-gun, Lee Byung-hun, Won Bin, Lee Na-young, and Han Ye-seul.
Their agencies stated, "Our artists have no connection whatsoever with any specific religion (Shincheonji), and we declare that these rumors are false," adding, "We will strongly respond with no agreement or leniency regarding the spread of malicious rumors and defamatory posts."
Singer Chungha also expressed, after her staff member was confirmed positive for COVID-19 at Milan Fashion Week, "Neither I nor my managers have any concerning religion (Shincheonji). I hope the staff will no longer be hurt."
