Police Supplement Investigation on Fraud Allegation Complaint Against Former Dongyang Group Vice Chairwoman Lee Hye-kyung
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] The police have launched a supplementary investigation into the fraud accusation case against Lee Hye-kyung, former Vice Chairman of Dongyang Group.
According to the police on the 6th, the Jongno Police Station in Seoul is reviewing the fraud case against former Vice Chairman Lee under the prosecution's directive for supplementary investigation. Earlier in January, the police had sent former Vice Chairman Lee to the prosecution with a non-indictment opinion, but the prosecution instructed them to conduct a supplementary investigation.
About 60 victims of the so-called 'Dongyang Incident' filed a complaint with the police last July, stating that former Vice Chairman Lee, along with former Dongyang Group Chairman Hyun Hyun-hyun, was responsible for the Dongyang Incident but had not been punished.

Former Chairman Hyun was indicted for issuing fraudulent commercial papers (CP) and corporate bonds worth approximately 1.3 trillion won, causing damage to about 40,000 investors, and was sentenced to seven years in prison by the Supreme Court in 2015.
