Naju-si to Open Public Recruitment for Resident Autonomy Committee Members Starting from the 9th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) announced on the 6th that it will publicly recruit 'Resident Autonomy Committee Members' from the 9th to the 31st for eup, myeon, and dong areas wishing to transition from the existing Resident Autonomy Committee to the Resident Autonomy Association.
The Resident Autonomy Association holds authority including ▲consultation on tasks closely related to residents' lives ▲consignment and delegation of tasks not directly related to residents' rights and obligations ▲holding residents' general meetings ▲establishing village plans, in addition to the existing roles of the Resident Autonomy Committee such as deliberation on the operation of the Resident Autonomy Center and administrative advisory roles, in an equal relationship with the administration.
The transition from 'Autonomy Committee' to 'Autonomy Association' is promoted to strengthen resident-centered living and neighborhood autonomy, aiming for regional development and community revitalization.
The areas wishing to transition to Resident Autonomy Associations within the jurisdiction are Nampyeong-eup, Wanggok-myeon, and Songwol-dong.
The quota is 25 members, with a term of 2 years (one reappointment possible), and the existing Resident Autonomy Committee will be abolished once the Resident Autonomy Association is launched.
Applicants must be residents aged 19 or older, including residents registered in the respective eup, myeon, or dong, workers at workplaces, and employees or officers of schools, institutions, or organizations.
Applicants will be selected as final members through a public lottery after completing mandatory resident autonomy education (6 hours), and appointed by the mayor of Naju City.
However, the composition of the Resident Autonomy Association members will ensure that no specific gender exceeds 60%, and to secure representation, the composition ratio will be 60% individuals and 40% organization recommendations.
Applications can be submitted by filling out the relevant documents found in the announcement section on the city hall website and submitting them to the eup, myeon, or dong office of the applicant's address.
The city plans to schedule the process after the public recruitment depending on the COVID-19 situation, and the 'Bitgaram-dong Resident Autonomy Association,' launched in July last year, plans to publicly recruit 10 preliminary candidates.
