Sejong Saebom GX Zumba Instructor Tests Positive for 'COVID-19'... Infection Suspected at Cheonan Workshop (Summary 2)
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] A woman in her 40s residing in Sejong has been confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to Sejong City on the 6th, A (41, female, Saerom-dong) works as a Zumba dance instructor at the fitness center ‘Saebom GX’ in Dodam-dong and participated in a Zumba dance instructor workshop held on the 15th of last month in Buldang-dong, Cheonan. A total of 29 participants attended that day, among whom 4 had already been confirmed positive.
Earlier, on the 5th, the city was notified by Chungnam Province that A had attended the Zumba dance instructor workshop. On the same day at around 3:30 PM, the health center collected a specimen from A and requested analysis from the Sejong Health and Environment Research Institute.
As a result, A was finally confirmed positive for COVID-19 by the Health and Environment Research Institute at around 11:50 PM on the 5th.
A lives with her spouse and two children in Saerom-dong Complex 7 and is currently under self-quarantine with her family. The city is conducting tests on A’s spouse and children, and the test results are expected to be released in the afternoon of the 6th.
A’s confirmed diagnosis comes 13 days after the first confirmed case on the 22nd of last month, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the Sejong area to 2.
Meanwhile, the city estimates that A was infected with COVID-19 during the workshop last month. However, A reportedly experienced temporary fatigue and a runny nose on the 20th of last month but has shown no particular symptoms recently.
The city explained that A’s possible transmission period is considered to have started from the day before symptom onset, the 19th of last month, and that close contact locations with others include Saebom GX in Dodam-dong, where she worked until the 21st, and her residence in Saerom-dong.
Saebom GX has been closed since the 21st of last month following the Ministry of Education’s guidelines, and A has been staying only at home since the closure.

A city official stated, “The city is currently sharing information with the Central Disease Control Headquarters and conducting an epidemiological investigation. In particular, we have secured the list of instructors and students at Saebom GX to conduct a thorough survey of symptoms, and those showing symptoms will undergo COVID-19 testing.”
