Amid the increasing difficulties faced by small business owners due to COVID-19, a protagonist of the ‘Good Landlord Movement,’ who voluntarily offers rent discounts to tenants, has emerged.
The first ‘Good Landlord’ in Wando-gun is CEO Lee Cheol-seok, who operates the Hakrimhoe Center. He decided to reduce the rent by 20% for three months for all 25 stores, restaurants, and dried seafood shops located in the center.
Meanwhile, mask support for neighbors in need continues despite the mask shortage crisis.
This mask support was made possible with a total of 33 million won invested through the Jaegyeong Wando-gun Hometown Association President Yang Gwang-yong and his wife, the Community Chest of Korea, Baek Seung-ho from Nohwa-eup, and the Wando-gun Happiness Welfare Foundation.
Masks will be distributed to a total of 3,282 people, including basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income groups (people with disabilities, single-parent families) in 12 towns and townships, with 5 masks per person planned.
The Wando-gun Happiness Welfare Foundation will receive the masks and distribute them to the towns and townships, allowing residents to receive them. Masks will be distributed in batches of 2,000 per day over a total of 15 days starting from the 4th.
Wando-gun Mayor Shin Woo-cheol said, “I thank CEO Lee Cheol-seok for participating in the Good Landlord Movement, and I hope that the positive influence will spread widely in the local community so that merchants can gain more strength.”
