34 COVID-19 Cases Confirmed in Military
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu Reporter] The Ministry of National Defense announced on the 6th that the cumulative number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) within the military remains the same as the previous day at 34.
As of 10 a.m. on the day, there are 19 in the Army, 1 in the Navy, 2 in the Marine Corps, 11 in the Air Force, and 1 in the Ministry of National Defense direct units. One person has fully recovered, and no additional confirmed cases were identified on this day.
The military is currently quarantining about 520 personnel to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The number of quarantined personnel decreased by about 880 compared to the previous day. According to health authorities' criteria, including confirmed cases, contacts of confirmed cases, symptomatic individuals, and suspected patients, about 820 personnel are quarantined within the military. Under the military's own standards, about 4,200 personnel are under preventive quarantine.

Since the 10th of this month, the military has been applying strengthened criteria for preventive quarantine to soldiers and civilian employees who themselves or their cohabiting family members have visited Daegu and Yeongcheon City and Cheongdo County in Gyeongbuk Province. Visitors to China, Hong Kong, Macao, Japan, and Singapore, as well as close contacts of such visitors, are also being quarantined preventively.
