Prosecutors Extend Minimization of Summons Investigations by 2 Weeks Due to COVID-19 Spread Concerns
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] The prosecution has decided to extend the response measures taken to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) for an additional two weeks.
According to the legal community on the 6th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office sent an official letter to local prosecutors' offices yesterday, instructing them to continue response measures such as refraining from summons investigations until the 22nd of this month.
At an expanded executive meeting on the 21st of last month, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office had decided to implement COVID-19 response measures until the 8th of this month. The response measures included minimizing summons investigations that call suspects and witnesses to the prosecution office for questioning, refraining from prosecution-related events, and postponing prosecution office tour programs.
