Dongseo Power Starts Additional Indoor Construction of Low-Carbon Storage at Dangjin Thermal Power Plant
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea East-West Power announced on the 5th that it will invest approximately 300 billion KRW in the Dangjin Thermal Power Headquarters in Dangjin-si, Chungcheongnam-do to start the 'Indoor Coal Yard Project for Dangjin Thermal Power Units 1 to 8' with a capacity of 1.32 million tons.
This project aims to store outdoor coal, which can be blown into the air by strong coastal winds, indoors to create a pleasant air environment and improve the living conditions of residents around the power plant.
East-West Power has been operating an indoor coal yard with a capacity of 600,000 tons for Dangjin Thermal Power Units 9 and 10 since 2016. By additionally indoor-storing the coal yards for Units 1 to 8, they plan to reduce dust emissions from the entire Dangjin Thermal Power plant to zero.

To this end, basic design work began on the 2nd, and following the indoor coal yard for Units 5 to 8 (740,000 tons) scheduled for January 2022, construction of the indoor coal yard for Units 1 to 4 (580,000 tons) will commence.
