Yeonggwang-gun Selected for ‘Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project’ Including Sango Village
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeon Seong] Namcheon 2-ri Hwangtogudeongi Village in Yeonggwang-eup and Sang-o Village in Odong 1-ri, Yeomsan-myeon, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Junsung) have been selected in the “Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project” contest hosted by the Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development.
According to the county on the 5th, this project supports improving the basic quality of life for residents by securing a safe residential environment in vulnerable areas such as remote villages and hillside neighborhoods.
The project will invest a total of 6.4 billion KRW over four years, including 3 billion KRW in national funds out of 4.2 billion KRW for Hwangtogudeongi Village and 1.5 billion KRW in national funds out of 2.2 billion KRW for Sang-o Village.
It will support housing maintenance such as slate roof improvement and old house repairs, expansion of basic living infrastructure including old fence repairs, traditional toilet improvements, alley maintenance, and also human care projects.
The two selected villages have a high proportion of vulnerable groups and poor residential environments, and despite the development of surrounding areas, they have been underdeveloped. Through this project, the county plans to renovate the slate abandoned house dense area located in the center of Yeonggwang-eup, a long-standing project, which is expected to greatly contribute to improving residents’ living conditions and quality of life.
