Gwangju Dong-gu Focuses on Care Activities for Mobility-Impaired Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 5th that it will focus on care activities for vulnerable groups at risk of solitary death and other concerns as the atmosphere of 'social distancing' spreads in the region due to the impact of COVID-19.
The Chosun University Welfare Center (Director Shin Hye-sook), an elderly customized care service agency, is intensively managing key care groups such as homebound elderly and severely disabled persons with 74 life support workers taking turns.
In addition, they purchased masks with about 8 million won raised through their own fundraising and are providing lunchboxes consisting of three types of side dishes to 54 households.
The life support workers play the role of caregivers by visiting households to guide COVID-19 prevention rules, listen to and resolve daily inconveniences.
