Respiratory Disease Patients Receive Separate Treatment Routes from Other Patients
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam National University Hospital (Director Lee Sam-yong) was recently selected as a National Safe Hospital by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Hospital Association to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to Jeonnam National University Hospital on the 5th, a National Safe Hospital is a facility that separates the entire movement path of patients with respiratory diseases visiting the hospital?from the moment of visit through outpatient treatment or hospitalization?from other patients to block the possibility of hospital-acquired infections due to community transmission of COVID-19.
Jeonnam National University Hospital has established a National Safe Hospital by remodeling the hospital funeral hall and will begin full-scale treatment for respiratory patients starting from the 9th.
Until now, respiratory medicine consultations were conducted in the outpatient clinic on the 2nd floor of Hospital Building 1, but temporarily, until the end of COVID-19, these will be conducted outside the hospital building.
In particular, the Jeonnam National University Hospital Safe Hospital was established by closing the funeral hall, reflecting the hospital’s strong commitment to preventing the spread of infection.
This National Safe Hospital consists of three consultation rooms, one tuberculosis counseling room, one respiratory symptom counseling room, and one administration payment window, with negative pressure devices installed in each room to prevent virus exposure outside the consultation rooms in advance.
Medical staff wear protective gear including KF94 or higher masks, goggles or face shields, disposable aprons, and latex gloves during treatment.
National Safe Clinics are classified into Type A, which operates by separating the movement paths in the respiratory outpatient area, and Type B, which operates screening clinics and respiratory wards including inpatient rooms. Jeonnam National University Hospital will operate Type B.
