The Vulnerable Area Living Conditions Improvement Project is a project to improve living conditions so that residents in vulnerable areas can be guaranteed a minimum quality of life.
With this project selection, a total project cost of 4.5 billion KRW will be invested in Hangdong Village, Wando-eup, and the project will be promoted over four years.
The main project contents include expanding living infrastructure such as sewage system maintenance and communication road development, safety facility maintenance such as fence and slope reinforcement, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) safe alleys, and residential environment improvement projects such as slate roof renovation, old house maintenance, and vacant house demolition.
In addition, to establish a sustainable village management operation system, support will also be provided for resident capacity-building education and health management programs for the elderly and single elderly residents.
In particular, Hangdong Village is a residential area naturally formed on a slope, where the road width is narrow, making it impossible for emergency vehicles or fire trucks to enter. Therefore, a communication road will be opened for emergency response, and hygiene and safety issues such as summer odors and pest outbreaks caused by the absence of sewage pipelines will be resolved through this project.
A representative of the Hangdong-ri Village Residents’ Council said, “We are pleased as we expect to solve issues such as the opening of communication roads and vulnerable resident hygiene through this project.”
