[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Ga-yeon] Four people, including two Chinese nationals who purchased fake health masks and sold them at high prices through the Chinese social media platform WeChat, have been arrested by the police.
The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Metropolitan Investigation Unit announced on the 5th that they have booked two Chinese nationals in their 30s, including Mr. A, and two Koreans without detention on charges of violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act for selling 40,000 fake health masks through WeChat.
Mr. A and others are suspected of purchasing fake health masks and selling them at increased prices via WeChat amid the shortage of health masks caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
According to the police, they bought the masks at 1,800 won each and resold them at 2,400 won each.
