Financial Supervisory Service appoints five new deputy directors including Kim Jong-min and Jo Young-ik
[Asia Economy Reporter Kangwook Cho] The Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) announced on the 5th that it has appointed five new Deputy Governors as of the 6th.
According to this personnel appointment, Kim Jong-min, Director of the Planning and Coordination Bureau, was appointed as the new Deputy Governor in charge of Planning and Management; Lee Jin-seok, Director of the Inspection Office, as Deputy Governor in charge of Strategic Supervision; and Park Sang-wook, Director of the Life Insurance Inspection Bureau, as Deputy Governor in charge of Insurance.
Additionally, Kim Dong-hoe, Director of the Capital Market Supervision Bureau, was appointed as Deputy Governor in charge of Financial Investment, and Cho Young-ik, Director of the General Supervision Bureau, was appointed as Deputy Governor in charge of Consumer Damage Prevention.
The term of the newly appointed Deputy Governors at the FSS is three years, from today until March 5, 2023.
Deputy Governor Kim Jong-min graduated from Jinju Dongmyeong High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Economics. He joined the FSS in 1999 after working at the Bank of Korea and has served as Deputy Director of the General Banking Inspection Bureau, Director of the Insurance Compliance Inspection Bureau, and Director of the General Affairs Bureau.
Deputy Governor Lee Jin-seok graduated from Daewon High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Business Administration. After joining the Bank of Korea, he moved to the FSS in 2000 and has held positions such as Deputy Director of the General Supervision Bureau, Head of the Financial Situation Analysis Office, and Director of the Banking Supervision Bureau.
Deputy Governor Park Sang-wook graduated from Gyeongdong High School and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies with a major in English. He began his career at the Insurance Supervisory Service and later served as Deputy Director of the Insurance Audit Office and Head of the Gyeongnam Branch at the FSS.
Deputy Governor Kim Dong-hoe graduated from Jinju High School and Korea University with a degree in Business Administration. He joined the Securities Supervisory Board and later served as Deputy Director of the Financial Investment Supervision Bureau and Head of the Insurance Fraud Response Team at the FSS.
Deputy Governor Cho Young-ik graduated from Suwon High School and Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in Trade. He joined the Insurance Supervisory Service and later served as Deputy Director of the General Affairs Bureau, Director of the Insurance Sales Inspection Office, and Director of the Public Relations Office at the FSS.

The FSS stated, "The newly appointed executives are experts equipped with professionalism and leadership in finance, as well as a mindset for innovation. They are expected to actively promote the stability of the financial system, establish a sound financial market order, and strengthen the protection of financial consumers."
