China's COVID-19 Cumulative Deaths Exceed 3,000 (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] On the 4th, China reported 31 new deaths and 139 new confirmed cases of COVID-19. The cumulative death toll has surpassed 3,000.
On the 5th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, 139 new confirmed COVID-19 cases were added in China. Among the 139 new cases, 134 were patients from Hubei Province, and among those, 131 were from Wuhan City, known as the origin of COVID-19. Excluding Hubei Province, only 5 new confirmed cases were added nationwide in one day.
The number of new deaths was counted at 31, all of which occurred in Hubei Province.
So far, a total of 80,409 people in China have been confirmed with COVID-19, of whom 52,045 have recovered and been discharged. There have been 3,012 deaths. Currently, 25,352 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals, with 5,952 in severe condition, indicating a high possibility of additional deaths.
The number of suspected cases is 522, and the number of close contacts under medical observation is 32,870.
On the 4th, China reported 2 cases of COVID-19 re-imported infections, both from Zhejiang Province. The cumulative number of re-imported confirmed cases is reported to be 20.
